2016 article explains GOR mechanics

And it’s clear VT’s TV rights are the property of the ACC through 2036. So, as I read this, if hypothetically, VT is in the SEC and playing in the Game of the Week, ESPN will televise the game, reap the benefit of whatever the ratings are, then pay VT’s share to the ACC, based on the terms of the ACC deal! I doubt the ratings gain we bring in VA and DC is enough to cover our half, so clearly no incentive for the SEC. Second, where would enough incentive be for ESPN to put pressure on the ACC to re-negotiate in some way to allow us to leave, as has been suggested elsewhere on this board? It would only weaken ACC TV value, so it’s a wash for ESPN it seems.

What have I missed?
